I received my first donation yesterday evening! Every little bit helps :)
I have officially applied for the trip, and the only thing missing for now is some release forms (which I'll be mailing in this week), passport information (because I don't have a passport yet), my $200 deposit (which I can turn in anytime, but obviously, the sooner the better as they can only take so many people on the trip and the deposit insures my spot), and lastly 2 letters of recommendation, which I plan on asking two people to fill out after the busy holiday season is over. I don't want to pile on extra work for people to do right now!
I also found out some more information on the payment for the trip after I applied. $2,000.00 is due 60 days prior to the trip, which means I need that much by late May 2011. This $2,000.00 plus the $200.00 deposit will set me up for my plane tickets. The rest of the payment left over after paying the $2,000.00 (Which can be from $1,000.00 - 1,200.00) will be due 2 weeks before the trip. Which means early July for me.
I'll be updating you guys at least twice a week on my cause and how donations are coming.
For now, fundraising ideas have included a bake sale with my small group through Elevation Church. I'll let you know when and where it will be when I am certain that it's going to work out.
If you have any other ideas that can help me at this time, feel free to leave a comment below! Thank you guys for your constant prayer and encouragement.

Thanks for Visiting!
Hello!
Thank you for visiting my blog to raise money that will hopefully take me on a mission trip to Uganda in the Summer of 2011. Specifically, a two week trip from July 22 - August 2, of 2011.
A little bit about me:
My name is Torie Hayes. I am 19 years old, a member of Elevation church in Charlotte, NC and a sophomore in college. Since I was 15 years old I've felt the calling to go to specifically Uganda, Africa to work with HIV/AIDS orphans and mothers. As I have grown in my Faith through the years I have found that this is God's calling for my life. I would like to begin my missions by attending a short term, 2 week mission to Uganda first- which is what I'm raising the money for now. After that I will attend other, and longer mission trips. Anywhere to a few months, to a year, to maybe a lifetime. The longer trips really depend on what God want's me to do with my life.
Here's a break down of the expenses for the 2 week trip:
Also, here is a description from the website of the organization I will be going with, of what I will be doing in Uganda, and who I will be working with. Feel free to visit any of the sites or blogs of the organizations listed below, and if you would like to visit the website of the organization I am going with, please click here.
"In Uganda, our teams will spend time working at Amazima Ministries (http://kissesfromkatie.blogspot.com) with their feeding program and with the children of the Karamajong tribe. Our focus with Amazima Ministries will be to present vacation bible study series and lessons to these children so that they know the love of their Heavenly Abba Father. We will also help meet physical and financial needs by bringing supplies and donations from the U.S. There are many other orphanages which Visiting Orphans partners with in Uganda such as Canaan's Children Home, Return Uganda, Divine Care Ministries, My Father's House, Spring of Hope orphanage and an orphanage in the city of Palissa. Customized itineraries for each trip will consist of working with some or each of these orphanages."
I will be posting more blogs on information concerning updates of money matters, but also will be talking a little about the organizations I am thrilled that I will be working with.
Feel free to donate by clicking on the PayPal tab at the top right corner of my blog.
Also, prayers and encouragement at this time are much appreciated. :)
Thank you, and God Bless!
